On May 26, endangered animal type 1 black-faced spoonbill born by artificially brooded species succeeded in natural breeding, giving birth to 2 birds. This is Korea’s first case and very meaningful because parent species born through the artificial brooding-based preservation program aimed at rescuing eggs at risk of being submerged succeeded in natural breeding. With this, Seoul Grand Park opened the door to black-faced spoonbill restoration. We will be committed to systematic nurturing of sufficient number of species in wild through international black-faced spoonbill network. Meet healthy baby black-faced spoonbills.
※Artificial brooding: refers to an act of zookeepers to feed and help birds born through brooders to get used to surrounding environments.
