About those eyes in the darkness
Like the name, the Nocturnal Wildlife Pavilion is home to animals that are active at nighttime, but visitors can observe them during the day. Featured animals include the Egyptian fruit bat, the sociable megabat with a large wing span; the kinkajou, a tropical mammal, aka “night ape,” with a pointy snout and an extendable tongue to pick fruit and lick nectar from flowers; the racoon, the fuzzy soft creature native to North America, and the Naked mole-rat, a small burrowing rodent.
The Nocturnal Wildlife Pavilion is equipped with reproductions of the natural habitat, such as cave wall and indoor spaces, as well as the outdoor open field including trees and a bridge connecting the two spaces. Racoons and kinkajous are often seen freely crossing the bridge.
